Overview
Stoak is an iOS app that curates a personal heatmap of the places you visit throughout the day. This Privacy Policy explains what information Stoak collects, how it is used and stored, and your rights as a user. We are committed to handling your location data with care and transparency.
Information We Collect
Stoak collects the following information in order to provide its core functionality:
- Location data: Stoak accesses your device's location to record the places you visit and generate your personal heatmap. This includes latitude, longitude, and timestamps of your movements throughout the day.
- Pin data: Locations you manually save as Pins, which are stored on your device and synced to your personal iCloud account alongside your heat points.
- App usage data: Basic information about how you interact with the app, such as settings and preferences, stored locally on your device.
Stoak does not collect your name, email address, phone number, payment information, contacts, photos, or any other personal information beyond what is described above.
How We Use Your Information
Your location data is used solely to:
- Generate and display your personal heatmap within the app
- Track and visualize the places you visit over time
- Sync your heatmap across your own Apple devices via iCloud
We do not use your location data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond the core features of the app. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third party.
How Your Data Is Stored
Your data is stored in two places:
- On your device: Location and heatmap data is stored locally using SwiftData. This data remains on your device and is under your full control.
- iCloud (if enabled): If you have iCloud enabled, your data is synced across your Apple devices via Apple's CloudKit service. This sync is managed entirely by Apple and is tied to your personal iCloud account. We do not have access to your iCloud data.
You can disable iCloud sync at any time in your device's Settings under your Apple ID > iCloud > Stoak.
